Delevingne is joining the Puma’s family, in a campaign creative-directed by none other than Rihanna, who’s also responsible for Fenty Puma by Rihanna, the brand’s most talked-about franchise. (She also happens to be Delevingne’s friend.)
Delevingne has been named the face of Puma’s new “Do You” initiative, which is focused on encouraging authenticity and motivation and the celebrate of each person’s individuality. The model/actress told Refinery29 she was drawn to the gig by the “chance to deliver a message of empowerment through confidence and honesty.”- which she has personally practiced in the past years.
She’s pals with Rihanna, and it probably didn’t bother her much to learn that was the one doing be creative directing her in the photo shoot. “It was effortless to collaborate with her because she’s a close friend,” Delevingne told R29. “I really admire both her business mind and her creativity, so working on this campaign together was a really great experience,” adding that pairing up with her friend also it also left her inspired.
Rihanna signed a multi-year partnership with Puma back in 2014, which has lead to a creative director title at the company and the launch of the perpetually sold-out Fenty Puma by Rihanna line. Rihanna’s done a lot for Puma during her short involvement, but this is one of the first times we’re seeing her take the reigns over a campaign, rather than just designing or simply prepping a new collection.
Cara, 24-year-old, has stayed away from the fashion industry over the past few years, focusing almost entirely in acting. Still, she claims she is not totally done with modeling, though: Delevingne has occasionally come back for select projects (often with longtime collaborators), such as Saint Laurent and Chanel. “Right now, I want to put my energy towards things I’m passionate about,” she told R29 in regards to how she balance potential gigs. “I’m passionate about acting and I’m passionate about empowering women and girls. I want to align myself with opportunities that stand for something.” – And that’s exactly what you are doing Cara.
Plus it doesn’t hurt to love the style for which you are modeling. “I love a tracksuit — always have and always will.”
