The Internet was set on fire after Grease Live directors Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski won the award for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special category at the 2016 Emmys over Beyoncé and Kahlil Joseph for her hour-long cinematic music video Lemonade– she also co-directed and starred in it, and it accompanied her album of the same name.

Lemonade was upheld as a victory masterpiece, highlighted as an academic requirement and received two Emmy nominations, one for Outstanding Variety Special, another for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special.

But Queen B supporters were so distraught they quickly took to social media to vent their frustrations about the surprising loss, and it’s safe to say it was a mixed bag of emotions ranging from anger and rage to sadness and disbelief. Here are the best Twitter reactions in Beyoncé’s defense:

After Kail and Rudzinski collected the award for Grease: Live!, Emmy’s host Jimmy Kimmel made reference to Kanye West’s 2009 MTV VMAs outburst when Taylor Swift won the Best Video award over Beyoncé, and the rapper crashed the stage. Kimmel said: “I wouldn’t want to be those guys when Kanye finds out they beat Beyoncé”.
