Ex-Onedirection-ite Zayn Malik revealed how he keeps it together during the tough times in a candid interview with NY DJ Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. The eye-candy musician struggles with anxiety on a daily basis, and admitted writing soothed his troubled thoughts.

Malik shared some of his musical influences are of previous generations, zooming in on his “dad’s old 90’s R&B”. When asked about his music, he admitted to Duran that lyrics come before the melody saying: ‘I feel like writing anything down is a little bit of a therapy process. It’s alleviating what’s on your mind.’

The bad news is we may be waiting for a very long time for a reunion of the foursome’s former band. Zayn is pretty comfortable riding solo through his career and shared: ‘I feel myself growing every day as a person, growing older and wiser.’
